How to re-start? This was the first question we posed when we decided to newly exhibite at the Geneva Automobile Show. We start from here the new course of the Carrozzeria Castagna, with the aim to bring apart our coachworks from those who generally state custom body, or personal cars prductions. We have decided to exhibite three cars, the best of the Italian sporting machinery. Three different bodys, perfectly suited to the chassis choosen:
- Auge: four-seater custom-body on Maserati chassis
- G.C.: two-seater custom-body on Alfa Romeo chassis
- Rossellini: barchetta custom-body on Ferrari chassis
It is very important to stress the “custom-body” concept while such a cars are thought and produced for private customers, real enthusiasts, possibly collectors, and not a carmakers. It may also happen, as it occurred in the past, that the design is out of the official style of the chassis Make. Infact it is a Castagna production, at first.
Custom-body represent a new concept, now reappearing. Reborn Concours d’Elegances are the opportunities where to exhibite the new cars without any fear to be misunderstood. Infact, the lucky few show their cars among friends from all over the world, sharing the same enthusiam. Concorso d’Eleganza di Villa d’Este costitues our natural stage where last year we introduced the new Auge. Carrozzeria Castagna is strenghtly attached to this important event. We entered custom-bodyed cars since the first 1929 event, collecting more prize than any other in the period. Our new creations, we show static in Geneva, will be roadworthy within April 25th, to take part this year too at the magic Villa d’Este event. We think infact that the shape of the car is fulfilled by the mouvement: preferably the slow one of a Concours.
