It is within this context that Missoni, one of the most prestigious names in Italian fashion has been working for the last 50 years. The Missoni name has become a symbol when it comes to the art of colour and fabric research, even more so today on account of its involvement in design and furnishings. The desire for innovation, the research into colour and the pursuit of special, refined materials, is forever evident in the creation of custom built cars. This is the basis of the new partnership between Missoni and the Castagna Atelier. Together, they aim not only to make outstanding achievements with their new chromatic colour combinations and their use of traditional materials combined with new technology, but also design the interior of these custom built MINI.
The central part of the seats, in ribbed piquè velvet, designed to fix the body to the seat just like in racing cars, is now printed in faint tones to match the very soft leather of the side elements, panels and dashboard. For another version, Missoni has created a fabric with a multicolour plait, a reminder of the victory chequered flag. The leather is stitched with a thick thread in contrasting tones, like piping trimmings.
